Uzbekistan’s path as an independent country marks a major historic milestone as we reach the 35-year mark. Human happiness is impossible without freedom, and true freedom is built directly on independence. That is why understanding the real meaning of independence and teaching these values to the younger generation is our most important duty. Independence is, above all, the basic right of a nation and every single person to be the master of their own destiny, to appreciate this great gift, and to work continuously to keep it strong.
Independence gives every citizen the foundation to fully use their rights and freedoms. How well these freedoms are used depends on each person’s mindset, talent, and abilities. The highest value of any person is a sincere love for their country, feeling responsible for its future, and working to make the nation stronger.
The declaration of independence in 1991 was a historic moment that brought back national pride to our people. Spiritual values, religion, traditional holidays like Navruz, Ramadan, and Eid al-Adha, as well as old customs lost during the Soviet period, were fully brought back. Over these years, our rich history, statehood, and traditions returned, while values like kindness, tolerance, and care for our country became part of everyday life. Independence created a strong foundation for building a fair and democratic state, opening big opportunities for everyone to grow economically, socially, and culturally.
Understanding this simple truth makes people love their country more and brings everyone together around a shared national goal that drives progress. Studying history honestly helped our people realize that we are the descendants of great thinkers like Al-Khwarizmi, Beruni, Ibn Sina, Ulugbek, and Alisher Navoi. Learning subjects like history, literature, and social sciences has helped improve education, moral values, and the growth of a new smart generation. Over the past decades, a solid foundation for the country was built: borders are safe, the law is respected, different nationalities live in peace, and people of all religions are welcomed. The country has gone through big social, economic, and political changes.
Today, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, major reforms are taking place that focus directly on the needs of the people. The main principle–“Government bodies must serve the people, not the other way around”–is now the base of how the country is run. Thanks to the hard work of our citizens and the great success of our youth, Uzbekistan is showing its huge potential and continuing to gain respect around the world.
Looking ahead to the future, the main goal of Uzbekistan is to keep building a modern, strong, and open nation for future generations. By investing heavily in modern education, digital technology, green energy, and youth talent, the country is creating new opportunities for every citizen. Protecting our independence, keeping peace in our land, and working hard together will ensure that Uzbekistan continues to grow as a prosperous, happy, and respected country in the world.
