Activities of the Scientific Research Department

The Scientific Research Department of the International Research Center of Imam Termizi operates according to the tasks set by the Decree No. PQ-2774 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 14, 2017, titled “On Measures to Establish the International Research Center of Imam Termizi.”

The Center functions in compliance with the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, relevant laws, presidential decrees and resolutions, Cabinet of Ministers’ decisions and orders, higher authority instructions, sectoral guidelines, and the Center’s Charter.

The Department focuses on studying the immense scientific and spiritual heritage of our compatriot Imam Termizi, who made an incomparable contribution to the development of Hadith sciences, as well as other Termezian scholars and thinkers from our country. It organizes scientific research and publishes annotated translations and comparative texts of their works to widely promote them among the people and the global community.

Tasks of the Scientific Research Department

In accordance with the Center’s objectives, the Department is responsible for:

– Timely preparation of work plans; ensuring the ideological and theoretical level, scientific and artistic quality of work plans and reports; preparing future, annual, and quarterly plans;

– Organizing scientific research, educational, and translation activities of the Department’s researchers in Hadith, Qur’an, Fiqh, Kalam (Islamic theology), and other fields;

– Studying the universal humanistic values of Islamic civilization, including the role and significance of these values in the spiritual and cultural development of our people, and investigating their scientific-theoretical and practical aspects;

– Scientifically studying and communicating to the public the humanitarian essence of Islam and its educational-cultural role in the context of globalization and the life of the world, region, and our country;

– Implementing projects for deeper research of the scientific and spiritual heritage of medieval Islamic scholars and thinkers in the fields of Hadith, Kalam, Fiqh, and Islamic history;

– Implementing projects to research the scientific heritage of medieval Muslim scientists in natural and exact sciences, including mathematics, astronomy, mineralogy, geography, philosophy, and logic;

– Preventing unfounded attacks against Islam under the idea “From Ignorance to Enlightenment” by studying religious fanaticism, extremism, missionary activities, pseudo-religious sects and communities, their goals, ideological and doctrinal bases, modern forms, and methods; preparing articles and treatises based on Hadith as refutations against such phenomena;

– Organizing harmonious research of rich cultural and spiritual heritage, both secular and religious sciences, supporting its application in educational and upbringing processes, and promoting it to the wider public;

– Performing other duties within its competence as directed by the Center’s leadership.

Rights and Responsibilities of the Department

– The Department Head, on behalf of the Department:

– Represents the Department and the Center within the scope of assigned duties and conducts negotiations;

– Cooperates regularly and equally with other Center departments to implement assigned tasks;

– Shapes the attitude of scientific staff toward their duties, creates adequate working conditions, and proposes incentives and disciplinary actions;

– Executes the Director’s instructions timely within the scope of authority;

– Works according to laws, regulations, and the Center’s Charter, fulfilling assigned tasks;

– Defines the responsibility level of scientific staff according to job descriptions;

– Oversees the general activities of the Department and is responsible for the timely fulfillment of its tasks.
